Weston Planning Board orders independent utility survey at 121 Church Street

WESTON — January 17, 2024 — Weston Planning Board challenges accuracy of 121 Church Street as-built and orders independent utility survey. The board, meeting Jan. 17, found that an interim as-built prepared by MetroWest Engineering failed to show a trench cut around a protected sugar maple that members had personally observed during a Jan. 4 site visit that triggered a stop-work order. Brian Nelson of MetroWest acknowledged his crew located the underground electrical run based on markings provided by the site contractor after trenches had been backfilled. Disturbance extended 15 to 30 feet beyond the approved limit of work, particularly behind the house, where grade was leveled into a plateau. "I'm very disappointed in the as-built because it's demonstrably inaccurate," member Alicia Primer said, calling for an independent surveyor. Chair Leslie Glynn called the team's "truth meter" low.
