Weston Planning Board Hears 20-Unit Senior Housing Pitch for Drabbington Lodge

WESTON — November 1, 2023 — Weston Planning Board hears 20-unit senior housing pitch for Drabbington Lodge amid abutter parking protests. Owner Robert Parsekian told the three-member board — Chair Leslie Glynn, Member Timothy Shawn Lanier, and Member Adrienne Giske — that he proposes to convert the historic 135 North Ave. assisted living building into 20 age-restricted rental apartments, five of them affordable at 80 percent AMI, using the existing 24-space parking lot with no new pavement. Four abutters pushed back, with King Hong Khan reading a letter signed by 27 Weston families that cited a Massachusetts average of 1.62 cars per household and projected demand for upward of 40 spaces. Natalie Willie, of 146 North Ave., noted the prior Sunrise Assisted Living use generated "at most two cars" on site. The board separately voted 3-0 to continue a site plan amendment for 2 Sudbury Road — involving demolition of a structurally deficient riding arena, a barn expansion of 16.5 feet, and a new sport court — to December 6 pending a site visit; Metro West Engineering reported the amendment would cut impervious surface by roughly 1,000 square feet from the approved plan.
