Weston housing panel previews plan due to state by mid-August
Housing Production Plan LS · Meeting of July 25, 2026
Weston housing panel previews plan due to state by mid-August amid two pending 40B fights. Committee Chair Alice Benson told residents Weston has never secured "safe harbor" protection under Chapter 40B and is reviewing legal options on two active 40B applications, at 518 South Ave and 104 Boston Post Road, that could otherwise bypass town zoning. Staff and committee members Leslie Glynn and Diana Chaplin outlined a development pipeline they say adds up to roughly a 24 percent increase in housing stock by around 2030, including 172 units at 751 Boston Post Road and 280 apartment units under a Boston Properties 3A project.
Data presented showed one in three Weston households earn 80 percent or less of area median income, while the average home value hit $2.3 million against a $600,000 statewide figure. Benson said the plan must reach the state's Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities by August 14, with "we're still short of 10 percent to get permanent" summing up the town's position.
