Weston Housing Panel Opens Public Comment on 2026 Plan Update

Weston housing panel warns town has lacked 40B protection since 2022 as it races an August deadline. The Housing Production Plan Steering Committee, led remotely Monday by Council on Aging representative Alice Benson, told residents the updated plan must reach the state by August 14 to restore "safe harbor" from comprehensive-permit developments. Two 40B cases are pending: 518 South Ave., which recently won in Massachusetts Housing Court, and 104 Boston Post Road, now in its third round of town appeals.
Planning Board representative Leslie Glynn detailed a pipeline that includes 751 Boston Post Road (Moderna), expected to finish around September 2027, and a Boston Properties senior-housing phase delayed until 2046. Affordable Housing Trust representative Alan Day said a $2 million payment from a Riverside tenant "would allow us to count all 20 of those units on the SHI." Weston's affordable-housing share has climbed to about 8.5 percent from 3.5 percent.
