Weston Historical Commission advances Woodward Lane addition to public hearing

WESTON — October 24, 2017 — Weston Historical Commission finds 1907 Woodward Lane house significant, orders public hearing on proposed addition. The commission voted unanimously at its October 24 meeting to find the craftsman bungalow at 4 Woodward Lane historically significant and refer a proposed two-story rear addition to a public hearing, tentatively set for November 21. Co-Chair Phyllis Halpern said the addition was "substantial enough that there could be concerns from the voters." The commission also voted unanimously to allow the emergency removal of a deteriorating front porch at a South Avenue property, and voted to pursue a Community Preservation Committee application for a condition assessment of the South Burying Ground. Members heard that the Jericho Street Tavern project's architect selection has narrowed to Baker Wohl Associates, with fees fitting within a roughly $630,000 budget envelope, and that the CPC approved funding for Warren Avenue affordable housing renovation, estimated at approximately $463,000, though the commission deferred formal support pending more detail on proposed site improvements.
