Weston Tree Advisory Group establishes evaluation process for Eversource fall removals. At the July 8 meeting, the group coordinated a response to Eversource's fall tree removal project, mandated by the state Department of Public Utilities to prevent electrical outages. Under Massachusetts law, TAG can formally contest removal of public shade trees if residents object, and the group will establish criteria and assign two members to review each tree.
The Select Board has approved a $30,000 contract with Crowley Cottrell for the Town Green planting project. TAG is also developing a Google Sheets tracking system for public shade tree maintenance and removals, to be presented to the Planning Board and Department of Public Works.
