Planning Board continues 10 Hitching Post hearing after height, design dispute
WESTON — November 4, 2020 — Weston Planning Board continues 10 Hitching Post hearing as 1997 height cap reopens. The board voted to continue the public hearing on a roughly 6,900-square-foot, six-bedroom house at 10 Hitching Post Lane after neighbors said the design violated the spirit of a 1997 flexible subdivision agreement that capped the lot at one-and-a-half stories. Chair Leslie Glynn recused herself; member Susan Zacharias served as chair pro tem. Architect Jim Rissling of LR Designs said neither the zoning bylaw nor the state building code defines a half story and set the main ridge at 26 feet, 4 inches above grade, about 10 feet below Weston's 37-foot pitched-roof maximum. Member Stephen Oppenheimer said "I don't know how we could in fairness complain about the height." Resident John McDonald countered that the original agreement "clearly calls for a lower-height home." The board also continued 667 Wellesley Street and a 3 Black Oak fence amendment and approved decisions for 95 Walker and 100 Highland.
