Planning Board closes Conant Road hearing, advances three other projects

WESTON — June 2, 2021 — Weston Planning Board closes Conant Road hearing, presses tree saves on two other projects. The board voted 4-0 to close the scenic-road hearing on Steve Burnett's 3,615-square-foot house at 416 Conant Road after he widened the entry to a 42-inch Pivot Door Company door with 24-inch sidelights and agreed to plant two scaling trees. On the continued 10 Hitching Post Lane flexible-subdivision review, members directed the team to save a 20-inch oak at the entry retaining wall via a curved modular block wall and accepted the town assessor's 1.5-to-1.75 story classification of the design. Abutter Todd Bremer told the board the proposed asphalt roof and gutters violate 1997 subdivision design restrictions; owner Nash Cordier said he would consult counsel. The board also opened and continued to July 7 a hearing on a 6,954-square-foot non-conforming house at 74 Orchard Avenue, citing concerns about a 22-inch white oak, a six-foot perimeter fence, 17,534 total exterior lumens and a near-40-foot cupola.
