Weston School Committee authorizes building project, seeks budget revisions. The committee unanimously created a School Building Committee to advance the Massachusetts School Building Authority process while directing Superintendent Dr. Karen Zaleski to develop alternative FY27 budget proposals that would restore some of the seven support staff positions proposed for elimination.
The proposed budget includes a 3.99 percent increase. Community union representatives and staff members expressed concerns at a public hearing that cutting administrative and support positions would create operational challenges; the committee voted unanimously to close the hearing and then requested administration return with options to preserve some roles while maintaining fiscal responsibility.
