Commission approves $300K tree planting initiative

Weston Recreation Commission votes to approve $300,000 tree planting and open space initiatives. Chair Eric Rosenthal and commissioners voted unanimously to support Phase One of the Tree Advisory Group's project at $4,000 per tree, with spring 2027 implementation scheduled after town meeting approval. The commission also approved Arbor Day plantings around the Memorial Pool and endorsed the town's Open Space and Recreation Plan.
Recreation Director Chris Fitzgerald reported sustained demand for town recreation, with 247 resident family memberships compared to 221 a year earlier and 1,200 summer camp registrations in two minutes.
