WESTON — The Weston School Buildings Committee worked through MSBA paperwork Thursday without a quorum, taking no votes. One member, identified as John, finished a capital planning and maintenance plan due to the Massachusetts School Building Authority by Monday, flagging a custodial-spending jump to $3.7 million in fiscal 2022 from roughly $1.5 million in later years, attributed largely to pandemic-era conditions. Members reviewed MSBA-suggested edits to draft Town Meeting warrant language and a new cost-comparison memo showing recent MSBA high school project requests ranging from $1.7 million to $3 million.
"The vote is about paying experts to tell us all of our options," one member said, estimating the town's local share at roughly one dollar for every three spent. The committee is due to brief the Select Board on October 13 and separately discussed pool preservation, parking and possible site contamination at the high school campus.
